I’m in a Burning Man video!

How awesome is this?!  Jason Mongue filmed me fire dancing in front of the Temple before it burned on the last night of Burning Man this year.  He put the footage into this amazing (and popular!) video montage from this year’s burn. I come in around 1:35.  Enjoy!!

A Hilltop in Michigan – Spinning meditations and my 3rd hoopiversary

A Road Trip to MI

I drove up to Michigan for a couple weeks and attended a regional burn, a music festival, and did a lot of dancing around wherever I could. It was incredibly fun and relaxing. :)

I also met up with the Ann Arbor FlowJo, which is a weekly spin jam with some awesome people.  I wish this had been happening when I lived there!!

Visiting Fire Friends in Kelowna, Canada

I love fire spinners.  They’re so incredibly friendly and welcoming because we have this sense of a greater diaspora, a kind of family. I met up with the local fire troupe while attending a scientific conference in Kelowna, Canada. Kinshara is a great group of warm and talented people.  I’m glad I got to spin with them and hopefully we can meet up again someday.

Entry for the Electric Forest Hoop Troupe

This is my entry for the Electric Forest Hoop Troupe.  I plan on attending this amazing music festival in my home state of Michigan later this month. Wish me luck! Special thanks to Michala Jones for help in making this video happen.

My friend Anne visits!

My friend of 15 years came to visit me in Florida for a few days, and all kinds of shenanigans ensued. ;)

PreHeat

Wow, April was a crazy month.  A lot of things in my life exploded and then fell into place beautifully.  :)

PreHeat is Florida’s regional Burn, and happens when the spring weather is just right.  [Trio of photos below by KK Pandaya]

My Fire Family

Here in Gainesville, FL, the fire community has grown very quickly in the past year.  We have a diversity of bright spirited people from different backgrounds, skill levels, and approaches. It’s incredibly inspiring to watch people progress and support each other along their journey of learning and sharing. These people are seriously innovative and resourceful too; a few have crafted their own fire tools by hand such as staffs, eating wands, poi, sword, flails, and more! It’s amazing.

We are the “United Ignited” and we have weekly fire jams for practicing, chilling, and enjoying a bonfire and music. If you’re interested in joining us, please get in touch with me for details!

I’m incredibly grateful to have these awesome people in my life. :)

Springtime beach hooping

Just letting out some energy in the great open space provided by a beach on Florida’s Pacific coast. :)  Not quite warm enough to swim yet…
